7 Self Accountability Tips For Weight Loss/ & Ideal Weight Maintenance.



SELF ACCOUNTABILITY: AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR WEIGHT LOSS
The one person who really matters to stay accountable to for weight loss and maintenance of hard fought weight loss aside having diet buddies is YOU (YES! meaning the person you see each time you look at the mirror). 
Do you know that your will power alone often isn't enough to keep you on track????

 Therefore, here a few tricks and tools to help ensure effective self accountability for weight loss/ ideal weight maintenance.
  • MAKE FRIENDS WITH YOUR SCALE
Daily fluctuations in weight can be maddening especially when all you want to see is 1kg fewer. The truth is weight creep up over time and the best way to keep track and make immediate correction in your diet is by weighing oneself often (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) using your personal bathroom scale.
Say No to Hate relationship for your bathroom scale because its a motivator.
  • USE A TAPE MEASURE TO STAY ON TRACK
Using a tape measure is a very exact way to measure success in weight management. By frequent measurement of the waistline, hips, bust, thighs and calves; tangible progress towards goal are recorded better because muscle take up less volume than fat and you will see inches drop even where there might not be a corresponding change on the scale. 

Trust me, It's encouraging.
  • USE A FOOD DIARY
Food diary could be done in an exercise book, phone recorder, excel or a diary. 
Having a food diary does not necessarily mean calorie counting which could be time wasting. Keeping record of daily food intake for a week will help you have a close follow -up on food eaten in respect to quantity, quality (like type of fat or sugar consumed) and balance ( like the amount of vegetable/ fibre consumed with each meal).
Food diary also helps you make changes to your diet to aid weight loss when a kg or pound has been gained outside the ideal weight goal.
  • KEEP THE BIG PICTURE IN MIND
Setting a specific goal can be an effective weight loss strategy/ motivation. These goals should be of permanent objectives like to live longer or even to feel more comfortable in your clothes. Avoid single transitory milestone goals like losing weight for a wedding because the tendency to eat back up the lost weight after the wedding could be as high as 70%.
  • CHART YOUR FITNESS FEATS
Physical activity is a key to maintaining weight loss and fitness log is one of the best way to stay on track.
These include taking notes/ making marks on the days you exercise and what type of exercise (strength training or aerobics) performed each week in your calendar. 
At the end of the week, I do have my clients tally it up and they are usually very encouraged to find that they did more exercise than they thought they could do.
  • CREATE YOUR OWN REWARD PROGRAM
Losing weight and maintenance of an ideal weight is a journey if you agree with me. Rewarding yourself like going for facials, buying a new cloth after achieving a size goal, inch goal is a motivation/ ginger for an effective weight loss journey. 
  In summary, effective self accountability part of the sure key way to weight loss/ maintaining ideal weight.
